Placing adverts on your site?

Didn't really know where to post this thread so moderators feel free to move it if its in the wrong place.

Basically my question is how do i place adverts on my website....i know about google adsense and thats easy, but i mean like the little deal or no deal kinda ads you always see and the custom ads which use your cookies.....

also, do you have to pay any fees to get ads on your site as i know you don't with adsense
