For a few of my sites I'm ranked really well in google, some even 1st position but I can't find any results on Yahoo or Bing. Does anyone know why that might be?

I thought all search engines worked in the same way

No they don't, yahoo prefer quality and paid links and bing is almost like Google..Get good on Google and work hard you will be automatically good on others too.

I've never really given much attention to search engines other than Google, purely because they don't generate nearly as much traffic. Google ranks websites based largely on the amount of backlinks to websites, whereas as far as I'm aware other search engines don't.

Yeah I know I tend to only focus on Google too but it'd be nice to able to rank well for all 3

Your site will take some time to rank in Yahoo and Bing. Yahoo prefers old sites and good quality back links. Whereas, Bing shows the results filtered from Google. It shows the sites which are more clicked through Google.

All search engines work slightly differently. For instance, BIng actually gives you plus points for linking out (Yes, out) to other quality, authorative sites.

I optimize one of my site's page with one keyword and it's appear in google but not in bing and I never optimize my homepage with the same keyword but it appear in bing but not in google. I think google count my backlink and bing count my site title but in yahoo both not appear in first page... :( sad..
