Hey,

A local company of mine has asked me to revamp their website, easy enough. However they have their website hosted on Titan:

http://www.titaninternet.co.uk/

It is currently coming up for renewal (in a week) and it costs them £150 per year - massive rip off. I think they bought a package, where they got the domain name with it aswell.

First thing, I cant even find the FTP details anywhere on the site, and Im not too big on web hosts. My question is, if they cancel the package they currently have, what will happen to the domain name? As its part of a package deal, will they still have full control of this?

So maybe transfer the domain name to 123-reg, and then get a hosting package with them for £5 a month.

Any help would be awesome, thanks

first you need to find out/ensure that the domain is registered with the client. If yes then ask the host about transfering. If they start playing silly beggars then look at the nominet site for some guidance on getting the domain transfered.

Yeah thats what I told them. Although my guidence was to just ring them up and ask about it, which I assume is the only way.

If the domain is transferred, I guess its easy to use it with a web host package that offers "2 free domains".

Good Luck but I fear the tag line says it all "Try us once – stay with us forever" battle ahead I think...

have you looked in their Guides and Terms. there is a PDF that states how you can move the domain away from them. Seems to be free.

This should be asked directly to the host, as the first point of contact....

Look at the costings of their linux packages - http://www.titaninte...linux/index.cfm - definitely on the steep side imo.
