From a guy that spent 10 years on windows then 1 year ago bought a macbook pro:

Once you go mac, you won't go back!

I sold one of those earlier this year. Not a fan, OS is all arse about face which you will have to get used to. Go into PC World and see if you can play with one for an hour or so. Then imagine it slower and more gay looking lol

its so much easier I got an old g5 here that will piss over any windows 7 box when it comes to design work. try one, the os does taking time to get used to but things are so much easier, example to zip something you just right click on the folder click "compress" and thats compatible with any zip, rar etc software out there and cross platform.

If you want new apple are doing for business users 0% APR if you spend over £2500 ex VAT

Not to go into the whole OSX vs Windows debate because, frankly, it's sad, but compressing a folder is done almost exactly the same in Windows.

Moved to Hardware.

Also, I agree the topic of OSX vs Windows has been done to death.

Not as easy as it is on a mac! ;) I've been a PC user and so far nothing has annoyed me on the mac as much as little things on the pc do.

I find they hold money much more than PC (not to create a war here) but I could put my G5 on ebay and get 4-500 quid for it show me a pc over 5 years old that will do the same.

Talking of Zipping, 7 Zip is the way to go. Ridiculously powerful.

Kingy, just have a play around with one. Don't dismiss Windows too quick though, there are plenty of Windows laptops out there that will do the job for you.

Do what works for you :)

With the money you pay for a good mac these days you're better off really with a good Sony laptop with a nice copy of windows 7 :p, I will say I'm not a massive mac fan and would never own an apple product bar the iPhone.. that said nor do I like Microsoft particularly after Vista.

Both have their places as does Linux in the IT world, and the whole better for designers still is questionable to me, certainly know their 12-core mac pro (relation is a graphics designer) did not out perform my Cheaper! Alienware Aurora ALX on tasks such as Photoshop, Illustrator etc and I know which I would rather have and is better suited to a greater range of tasks.
