It is the idea of community commerce - multiple buyers putting together small funds to buy big together. Collectively, people buying in bulk can save up to %20 or even more, and I want to start a website, not unlike eBay, where people can pool their money to buy commodities collectively.
And I need your help. You can be situated anywhere in the world, do whatever you can to help, on a minimal budget as the website itself will be not-for-profit, with advertising space only to maintain the costs of running the website (and provided the idea takes flight we will require staff). There is no strict time frame for the website to be finished and hopefully it will be a continuous work-in-progress. I'm looking for anyone who can help with the coding - whether you're a HTML newbie or Javascript genie, your skills can be used. And what a showcase it could be in your CV!
So here's the detailed idea for the website:
buyers search through individual categories such as 'AGRICULTURE' and 'ELECTRONICS' or use a search bar to find the exact goods they are looking for. Once the buyer has clicked on the specific items they are interested in, they will see a screen something like this:

To annotate slightly, the boxes in the top-left corner will be ordered by proximity to the user. The groups show competing bidding groups looking to raise the capital to buy the goods. The first group to reach the amount decided by the seller will win the auction. Buyers join groups and add their funds to contribute to the bid.
The bottom-right box will appear once "View group" has been selected, and this window will show where the item is located, how many members have joined the group, how much of the commodity the buyer will be entitled to if they submit the full amount (and an integrated calculator to show how much they will be entitled to if they choose to submit less than the full amount). Also displayed will be the feedback of the other proposed buying members (group starters can dictate the minimum feedback score of members, as can the seller).
All decisions should be decided by committee -such as when and where the members should meet to divide the commodity between them- using an integrated group member message board; but not including where the item should be posted to, which should be shown in the group details before an individual bids into that group. This is only relevant if the seller has decided not to divide the items and ship them to individuals. Once the full bid price has been reached, all members must pay into a pooled account, which will then be forwarded automatically to the seller.
This is a big project, I know, and we will be looking at ebay as a template..If anyone can help with this, get in touch, please.
