Hey guys,
I got into web design in 2000 working for a company, training up etc. I really enjoyed it but ended up getting fired in 2002 (young, lots of money, partying etc) and threw away the opportunity of a life time in all honesty.

10 years on, I wanna get back into web design. It has been the only thing I have ever enjoyed doing (in terms of working), everyday I got up, I looked forward to what I would be doing.

Now, I have been trying to re-learn the trade, but in all honesty I am struggling. The web is a very different place since 2002 & I have no clue where best to start.

Do you guys have any good starting points? I really want to get myself up to scratch to start earning some money, but obviously Its gonna take time. In the mean time I am doing websites for friends, and really enjoying it, but in all honesty I am just winging it and hoping for the best.

Do you guys know of any good starting points/books/tutorials/exercises I can do to teach me things I need to know? What do i need to know? Ahhh its a new world, and I am so out of date, I am considering myself a noob.

I also want to learn how to do cms stuff, so any starters on a good place to learn a cms (and what cms) would be great.
thanks
