Hello,

I need to move one of my business sites to the US so I'm on the hunt for a decent hosting provider which meet the following criteria, does anyone have any recommendations?

  • Provider must be a leadering USA host (no resellers please)
  • IP must be located in the USA
  • Nightly backups
  • Completely managed by the hosting company
  • Apache 2
  • PHP 5
  • MySQL 4/5 - with innoDB table format
  • Have the mod_rewrite module enabled
  • Have Register_Globals set to OFF or have the ability for us to set it to OFF using either php.ini or .htaccess

I've tried Network Solutions but they only offer innoDB on VPS packages that are not 100% managed :(

Any recommendations would help me greatly, thanks!

Hi Wesh,

Sorry for the late reply, I wasn't watching the topic (am now).

We have two main offices, one in the UK and one in the USA. We're moving the USA website off our dedicated server to a provider in the US.

I tried GoDaddy but their shared servers are completely overloaded causing major FTP connection issues. I can't go the VPS route because I need a supported service.

Back to square one with only 1 week to find another host, gah!

Thats a common thing with companies that oversell and Godaddy is famous for their overselling. How about going for a managed vps dedicated server? That way you wont need to bother for your server related support..

Yeah that's the solution, in the end I went for a 1&1 managed dedicated server and haven't had any issues with it.
