Yo

So i started working at a company about 4/5 months ago now and have been running their online shop, modifying it adding products and doing abit of SEO (description tags, content, keywords, page title's) and i've managed to push us quite far up on google for the search times we want giving us decent results. good times!

Anyhow i was on Google Webmasters today and found a few weird Links to my site, from stupid name blogs, so i go on them and search our site. It brings up an article with several links to our site this article is the same on all the blogs. Before i started they had a "SEO Guy" doing some stuff on the site.

So i want to know is this stuff bad for me? these just look like spamy blogs to get links to sites in and if so how can i sort it out?

Cheers

I would say if these blogs are fake and containing the same content and links to the site this would be bad, Google may see this as you trying to cheat the algorithm. This is usually used my black hat SEO techniques. I would avoid using such links.

Cheers for that i thought as much to be honest, the article is dating from around 2010 about a year before i started working their actually! so any idea how i could go about getting these removed on the other hand google webmasters is saying we have over 6500 links from Yell.com (our company does one hell of a lot of advertising with them).

Cheers

Chances are your SEO guy joined a spammy blog network and this is the result. You can try and contact these sites and get the links removed. Failing that just move on. Work on getting your ethical stuff done and forget about them. As u say you are having good results so... It is unlikely that your site is curently under any 'penalties'.

HTH :D
