So basically calling the guy who is offering the job naive is normal practice for you then?

No, I'm sure you are very intelligent and good at what you do. I like your sofas.

Just wondered how many sofas you could make in a week that's all. What were your production capabilities. Seem's like a perfectly logical question to me and far from irrelevant if you are paying a percentage commission. Your answer of 'limitless' indicated a bit of business naivety that's all.

Anyway, all the best and no offence intended.

If you're saying you don't have production limits, you're effectively saying someone could place an order tomorrow for 1000 sofas and you could get them to them by Monday, which is obviously not going to happen.

Every assembly line, production line, manufacturer, has a production limit and a small company like yours will more than likely have a very tight limit.

Being coy about your business is understandable, just don't cover it up with anything that is blatantly not true...

If I was applying for your role, and I'm not, with you having said there is limitless expandability or however you phrased it, I would definitely want to clarify that as words like "limitless" are nonsensical in business.

P.S Incidentally, I do like your sofas too. They appear beautifully made.

Our lead time is normally about 4-5 weeks.

Production is not really an issue. I can always bring more people in.
Is someone said i want 1000 sofas. i will tell them how long it would take.
but 1000 could be done. 10,000 could be done. Its all a matter of time.

or put it this way, there is no limit on numbers. the only limit is time in the day.

Yes, just like I could have offices all over the world and become a global conglomerate. The question is what are you doing now?

I'll put it another way..

How many workers do you have on the production line? How long does it take you to manufacture an average priced sofa, from raw materials to completed product? How many days per week is your factory operational? Do you have night shifts or day shifts only?

This would indicate your current production capability.

We have 12 Upholsters.

At full capacity they can make two each per day.
that's 24 sofas per day. Were open 6.5 days a week.

so do the maths. 156 per week, that's before making any changes to our work force.

Like i said... all the details will be given to people asked to come to an interview.

It's not. In fact if i was looking to hire someone for this type of work i'd be looking for someone who was asking those type of questions.

I never aimed or said your questions were grief. Just in general.
