Hi guys.
My friend is wanting me to help him build his new PC. He has bought all the parts himself and has confirmation that they are all compatible with each other. I have built a few PCs of my own but have always transferred my hard drive from machine to machine. I am not sure how to install Windows on a hard drive which is just new out of the packet, especially considering it will be put in a machine which is being run for the first time. How will the new machine boot up when no operating system has been installed on it?
Can someone talk me through the setup process of a new machine?
Thanks in advance.

You boot off the disk.
Once it disk is in and you reboot if it doesn't load windows off the disk you have to set the bios to boot from your disk drive first.

+1
It reads everything off the DVD/CD/USB then stores partial bits on the memory while writting the OS to the hard drive.

Thanks guys. That's all I wanted to know. Thanks for the offer of a walkthrough Renaissance. Won't be building this for a few weeks so might PM you if I need help then. Cheers
