Hi, I'm new to the forum but have developed a few websites so know basic html and css despite most websites being built in Dreamweaver. My next project (presumably) requires knowledge of PHP or java, so I wondered if someone could suggested the simplest way forwards?
I hope to build a page that allows users to customise a quote. It'll basically have images and text to show various design options for an item, probably a mix of bulleted points plus check boxes. Ideally the quote will update on a click, with the option of emailing a final quote to me when they are happy with the product.
I've found a few examples of these types of pages - the Dell / Overclockersstyle looks like it uses javascript, whilst this one from Pavida Media looks really nice, but uses PHP.
The PHP coding itself looks quite straightforwards, but I have no experience of the server side scripts or where to find them. Would what I want to do be easy enough in javascript instead, and does this sound like something that may have existing source files online that could be tweaked to my requirements (starting completely from scratch sounds intimidating as I'm not completely familiar with java or php.)
Thanks for reading, and I look forward to participating in the forum.

Somthing like this i feel is easier to do from scratch than mess about with free scripts you can find. What i mean is that it will take the same level of skill to modify an existing script as it would to create one and this in not a particularly big job so.. it would probably be worth your while taking the plunge!
This can all be done with javascript and will look better in the end!
