I just put this site live:
http://www.milomade.co.uk
What do you think?
It's been a bit of a rush job as I've got a few press call/publicity happening in the next few weeks because of the funding grant I got to help get this all started and so needed something live asap - so I started yesterday and just finished tonight. I wanted to do a blog, but it would've taken me too long to sort out, so I've gone for a simple site and will add a blog on a subdomain later on.
Would love your opinions.
Thanks
E

Lower the navigation a little bit.
Apart from that - pretty darn good!

Thanks for the comments - will bear that in mind and make the adjustment at the w/e when I've got some spare time.

I agree with angstmann about the images on the home page though.

That site is bloody lovely.. One of the main problems I have when starting a new site is colours. I usually go in too harsh, or go in too light.. Never manage to get it right, my websites often look like something a 3 year old designed.
But you really have hit the nail on the head in my eyes with that scheme. Have you thought about maybe removing that top 'welcome' bar, cause I just scrolled down to cover it and I think it looks even better without it.
Still, one of the best designed sites ive seen in a while.. Along with Mark Simons (but I dont think I told him).
Great Job !

Thanks for the lovely comments - I have the problem with using blue 'eskymo' colours on every site I do for myself. I do it without realising and then my OH comes in and says it's looks too much like Eskymo...and that's what happened with this one. It was all nice icy blues and a bit of brown. I even had a button in the logo that had 2 holes in it and it looked like the head of my little character...so I ditched that for another button and just picked red at random and went with it.
The red bar at the top is going to have additional links in it on the right hand site to skip to content and for the sitemap, so it's going to stay.

Also I think it is a bit to much red text, I mean, it's everywhere, I feel haunted... Looks good tho

What can I say. I looked at your own website a few weeks ago and it was good enough for me to actually 'stay' and read it. Definitely caught my eye.
This one is no different. Highly professional look. For the time it took you - you definitely did exceptionally well!
I hope you client is pleased with it. A definite gem for the portfolio.
The top banner is quite large, but it does work very well and adds originality which is important these days. The site has style and personality without being too fussy or corporate (which I hate). My only comment is on the 'focus' of the site. From first immediate glance, the light browns and red button in the logo possibly hint to some sort of a cross stitch or art site. It takes just a moment to see what it's about though. Your main text gets that message across and directs the users eye.
Well done.

As ever brilliant. Really.
One thing I'd out a but more padding on the right side of the left content column to give a bit more space between that and the right content column.

My suggestions are to vertically centre the text in the red and pink bars above and below the banner image — at the moment the text is aligned slightly towards the top, and to increase the line-height of your paragraph text a smidgen — it's making the text a little too scary, especially on your about page.
The other thing, which is just something I noticed rather than an issue, is that I tried to click on the polaroid photos of the products, as I thought they would do something, either enlarge or take me somewhere. That might just be me, though.
Apart from that the design is amazing. It is well structured, it validates, and you've squeezed pretty much everything you need in there (texture, contrast, flourishes, detailed elements) — love it!

I think that might be my jealousy speaking
Really I think:
Its nice, Its clean, Its fresh, Its pink, what more does a site need to be. I really like the dividers with the scissors

I really couldn't tell you where it is from originally, I was going through some old Cds looking for something and found it on one of them.
