Hi,

I'm going to speak to SagePay about this first thing tomorrow, but thought I ask here first :)

I've just made an online for client that uses SagePay direct and an SSL Cert, all working fine. The client has now just randomly asked for a private area, for himself to perform ADHOC payments in - kind of a basic online form for the client to enter card details on an take a payment. E.g. say a client wants to pay a random invoice, he'd like to get them to pay there an then. He really likes how the 3rd man results appear and the fact he can use 3d secure.

Now I can't see any technical issues doing this as I could use a cut down version of my checkout code I've already written - but do you think there would be any issue with SagePay? I mean they offer a virtual terminal service that costs an extra tenner a month, so tyhey may have some objections?

What do you peeps think?

Ta

Hey,

I use sagepay for staff ordering via the phone, its cool because it bypasses the 3d Secure check. all you do is add the below to the post request... think you still need to talk to sagepay tho... not sure i made the code back when it was protex

// backend / non customer attending payments
&AccountType=M
// front end customer attended payments
&AccountType=E

Hehe, I've honestly never noticed that :) Just had a look at some of my checkout pages and that variable is within the big post string you send to SagePay. Good call dude!

Still going to give SagePay a tinkle to see what their take on this is :)

Wow. Just spoke to SagePay re this. Apparently SagePay and the merchant banks frown highly at this and both advisers I spoke to basically said don't use it. I did mention the AccountType parameter, but they still said it's not advised.

However, the virtual terminal is included for free in your £20 pm SagePay Go - which is good.

wow... how do they expect telesales to work then... "frown highly" doesn’t mean no tho... just means we prefer you don't because we dont know you from tom dick or harry, and who says you can make secure code...

anno thats not an issue with you, I was playing a imaginary convo out in words...

i would do it anyway, *caugh* or use workstation</plug>... we don’t get hassle about workstation commerce but were a sagepay partner so generally there nice as pie over the phone

p.s that beta got way layed somewhat, still on the way... had an operation last week that delayed things more

Well the main issue didn't seem to be with SagePay themselves, they said it was issues with merchant banks. They advised me to use their free, online terminal, which I guess achieves the same thing
