http://www.miracletu...to-embed-vimeo/
And its basically - a video sharing site, like you tube, but lets you upload up in HD and pick themes(colors) to the video player, so you could get one to make your site.
Then copy and past code straight into your site.
Check out the link.

Depending what the video is for, check out http://www.viddler.com/ it allows you to brand your videos.

Hi, Thanks for this link. I just had a look at this too. It looks fantastic, very polished and professional. However, my video is just a very amateurish, home-made video of a local group of dancers having a bit of a jig at a summer dance and they will be the only ones interested in it! I don't want to spend any money getting it online.
I am very frustrated that I am missing something crucial when converting files or uploading and would be over the moon if I could just get my video working on my site using Dreamweaver / Flash and the appropriate file format. Is that not possible ? Is Vimeo/Viddler the only way to go ?

Chances are you do not have the mime type installed on your remote server.
Have a look at Google here.
Hi,
I am using .flv files. I did check with my web host if the hosting package I have allows me to embed videos and they said yes, does that mean the problem is not with the mime type installed on the remote server ?
I am checking out the link to google help, thanks.

You have a website which you have embedded video into, this video works on on internet explorer but not on any other browser?
First thing first, It won't be a mime-type issue on the server as the video is fed through to IE fine. Can you paste here the code that you use to embed these videos?

Thanks - I'll do this and hopefully that will do the trick.
In the meantime I have put the video on the site via YouTube - not really what I intended but will do as a temporary measure !
Thanks for your suggestions.

Hi, my initial thought that the video was working on IE was wrong - I think I must have been looking through IE on my local pc - when I tried to view it next it appeared to be downloading very slowly as the progress bar at the foot of the screen started showing but actually nothing appeared on the screen. In Firefox/Chrome there was no life at all.
I use Dreamweaver command Insert / Media / Flash Movie which gives the following code
</object></div></td>
<td bgcolor="#FFFFFF"><div align="center">
<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=8,0,0,0" width="342" height="291" id="FLVPlayer1">
<param name="movie" value="FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf" />
<param name="salign" value="lt" />
<param name="quality" value="high" />
<param name="scale" value="noscale" />
<param name="FlashVars" value="&MM_ComponentVersion=1&skinName=Halo_Skin_1&streamName=../media/MVI_2246&autoPlay=false&autoRewind=false" />
<embed src="FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf" flashvars="&MM_ComponentVersion=1&skinName=Halo_Skin_1&streamName=../media/MVI_2246&autoPlay=false&autoRewind=false" quality="high" scale="noscale" width="342" height="291" name="FLVPlayer1" salign="LT" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" />
</object>
Any clues there ?

Here are the MIME types you'll need to check - FLV MIME TYPES
- ← This is Flash at its true form, just amazing.
- Flash, Actionscript & RIA
- WYSIWYG Editor to use IN Flash →
