I am designing my website and wondering where is the best spot to put market ads/banner on my webpage at the very least intrusive layout to the audience and doesn't make my page looks messy and unorganized?

Where the best spot would you recommend?
- Right
- Right but hidden with javascript code to reveal the ads content
- Bottom ABOVE footer with slider or else
- Bottom UNDER footer with slider or else
- Anywhere else?

How these things work anyway? Do I have to wait until approached by some companies to get their ads posted or the other ways around? What's the best practice?

I find the best place to put your ads is in at the very bottom because you don't want it to make your site look ugly. Unless you have a sidebar specifically for your ads. And you can advertise spaces for companies who might be interested in advertising on your site, but you will need something to record the views and clicks for these ads, or you can use something like adsense where you will sign up and they will find advertisers for you and they record all the views and clicks.

You could check out Google Adsense. Banners at the top of the page usually have the highest click-through-rate.

Best place, not on your website.
