Hi all, its been a while since I posted here but now that I'm on my Easter break from school, I can go back to a little more experimenting...
Basically I'm creating a flash file where the titles of the page appear letter by letter in a different colour creating a rainbow effect. However the only way I have found to do this is to create a new keyframe for every letter being added as the word progresses and change the colour each time (for better understanding, please download the .fla file from here and open the movie clip inside scene one). This method is getting rather tedious and repetitive and I'm wondering if a quicker and easier way is possible??

Is There An Easier Way? creating a 'multicoloured' text effect

Hello
You could try creating all the text( or each line) that you want and converting it to a movieclip. Then you could change the color by using the tint property - add a keyframe for each color change. Then use a mask layer to reveal the words in order. A staggered block going left to right would do it. Still a bit tedious, but gives more flexibility in changing the speed of the words appearing or changing the words themselves. The speed of the color change is quite fast, which can be a bit unsettling for some viewers - well for people as old as me!

Thanks for the feedback, I'll try that technique out and will take the speed into consideration. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

Hello
Just knocked up a quick .fla, so you can see what I was talking about. I tried to keep it similar to your example. Its just a masked movieclip, which uses a text box to mask a color changing background. You could mess with the mask tweening on the main stage to reveal the letters at the speed you want.

I'm sorry, but the file you attached doesn't seem to open in flash. An alert box with the message "unexpected file format" comes up which is odd as the extension is .fla. Which version of flash did you save this with? I got Flash 8 on my computer.

Hello
Its a CS3 version, heres a different version using Flash 8. Hope this works. Did 2 text boxes , one with a mask moved to reveal a letter on each keyframe + one which moves the mask using a tween. It uses a movieclip of a rectangle changing color(sorry about the not very inspired color changing - needs jazzing up ( + an injection of a little speed). This movie clilp is used inside another movieclip containing the text, which acts a mask. That movieclip is then placed on the main stage and is revealed by a rectangular mask. Its a lot quicker than it sounds - honest!
