Hi,
I am new to this forum and quite new to the world of website design.

My site is built with Dreamweaver CS3 (if that is useful to know). Like most the goal is page one of Google for certain search terms. But with Google’s introduction of +1 I thought it may be of some help.

Placing the +1 button on the website was ok, however what I have noticed is that although a +1 click shows up on my page i.e. http://www.softtonesphotography.co.uk when you then go to another page and return home the home page is http://www.softtones...o.uk/index.html, still with the plus one button, but now reading 0 instead of two.

So my question is this; does an index.html address affect in any way any other of the performance issues with Google, such as page rank, search position, Google Analytics etc. Clearly google sees the two ways of rendering the web address, three if you count non www, differently.

I have seen websites where the .html on internal pages does not show. But I do not know how.

Please turn that music off or at least give visitors the option to turn it on/off. Its too intrusive especially if your visitors are in a quiet office when to find your site.

Sorry its off topic but thought it was worth mentioning.

Hi, to turn it off you press the little off button on the left hand side of the player.

Or you can use the slider to turn the volume down

But I will consider removing it.... are you in a quiet office?

Nobody will use your website if it has music on it. You probably have a 100% bounce rate.

What you can do is to change your homepage link on every page to http://www.softtonesphotography.co.uk instead of index.html thus avoiding this problem.

I have also added the Google +1 button to my homepage but I'm not sure if it will make a huge difference yet.

Yes the web address of index.html is creating the problem for you here, the search engines will treat both these pages differently even if they are same to the user. So the solution is to use canonical element in the meta tags or you can also put a 301 redirect on your preferred URL to avoid this problem of yours

For your second question about the extension like .html and .php removal, surely you can do that, if you are using a wordpress website.
