Hi,
I am quite used to OpenCart, and had a play with Magento so am ok with it - but neither have I the confidence to reprogram the core files to achieve the following spec:
I need to set up a site for someone who wants to sell made to measure curtains.
For each category I need to calculate the price of each item based on the width and drop entered by the user.
For example, if they type in 3 x 30, there should be some way of dynamically calculating the price would be £67 from the table below:
Width > 10 20 30 40
D 1 53 59 57 69
R 2 57 62 63 75
O 3 61 68 67 80
P 4 65 75 78 83
There are a few other options that the user would need to enter
I do not want the page to refresh to calculate the total - I want this to update automatically as the items are entered.
I also need the user to be able to order only 6 free samples.
Can I have your suggestions about the best starting point for this ie magento, and any remommended extentions or plugins which will help me achieve this result.
Many thanks

Any cart will do this, but you will need to get your hands dirty. YOu may get lucky and come across a plugin that does this for you, but I don't hold much hope of that.
Threads like this highlight the downside to using mass, premade ecommerce software. For instance, as good as Magento is, what would happen now if you had to make such updates to an existing Magento site - without a decent coding knowledge you're buggered and at the mercy of Magento developers - who seem to charge full whack for their services

Great news - there is a plugin for Magento due to be released shortly!
I have seen a demo and it is perfect!
As soon as the plugin is released I will post a link to it - just in case anyone else needds something similar
