Windows 7 is fine, lots of cool stuff. When you only use x amount of the features you tend to just use what helps you get things done.
Always liked Windows, but Linux (Ubuntu here) is the mutts nutts once you get over the initial hurdles. Lots to learn though to become a Linux power user.

Tried to use Ubuntu but it doesnt support Wacom tablets out of the box, and my handicap in linux usage has prevented me from finding a way to get it to support it. Since Wacom is my main input, it makes it all but useless for me. (I run ubuntu through VM). I could (and have) use my normal mouse, but it just gets in the way.
Linux seems to be great, but it needs to come a long way for user-friendliness and support for major stuff like Wacom. Hell even my ChromeOS VM has support for Wacom tablets.

Well Linux serves a purpose. It's simply not for designers, at least not the of the Photoshop variety. I switched because seeing so much documentation written from terminal / konsol pov it made sense to get it running.
But having as a virtual machine is the way to go.
Unless you like writing drivers for weekend projects good luck with Wacom or finding someone who does. lol

Isn't W7 the fastest selling OS ever? So I think they've done a pretty good job. XP users are immensely frustrating though - move on!!

they do already by dropping support? Plus they are caught between a rock and a hard place. Idiots like the EU would be quick to fine them if they tried to force anything. Look at all the ridiculous court cases over them including Media Player with the operating system because someone, somewhere wanted to....and I have no clue why....install Realplayer.

My work machine is running Vista still. Only my 'play-around' machine ever get updated with the betas/new releases purely for the geeky fun. I'm waiting for the release of 8's beta because some of the new features look awesome fun.

Vista was a nightmare, not helped by manufactures selling it with 1GB of RAM when it takes that just to run the OS.
7 so far as been outstanding.
8 looks good but as a technical support analyst i'm a little worried about how customise-able it is, navigating a customer is hard enough with a standard layout. Same with the new Apple OS (Lion?).
