hi, i am wanting to create my own shopping cart from scratch, i was wondering if anyone could offer some advice on making a shopping cart, as in like:-
1)what is the best language to write it in
2)what features should it definetly have
3)should an admin section be create
4)what admin features would be needed,

if anyone could offer any advice it would be much appreciated

just take a look at the specs of any of the hundreds of shopping carts and copy but seriously WHY?

I'd agree with the WHY? There is literally no point unless you can do it better than any of the very talented programmers who've come before you. If you're having to ask questions like that, you're not.

1 : PHP & mySQL but it's your choice. Could be .NET with C# for example.
2 : Up to you.
3 : Yes.
4 : Up to you.

As the others have said, why re-invent the wheel for such a big project?
On the other hand - there's no better way to practise programming than to ATTEMPT something like this for your own personal improvement.

Nothing wrong with writing your own script he could end up designing some super light weight shop that becomes the next big thing
