I've been asked to add a shopping cart into an existing website and am looking for some advice as to which shopping cart I should use.
The existing site is built in Joomla so my first thought was VirtueMart but having had a play with it and having had a play with the Community version of Magento, VirtueMart just seems clunky and not very user friendly.
Has anyone got any experience with either system (or others) that could help? The customer has no idea how successfull (or not) the shop will be so doesn't want to pay out for a paid script but obviously needs something that can be expanded if/when needed.
Any suggestions would be welcome.

Also been looking at OpenCart if anyone has any opinions about it.

Hi there,
Personally, I am using only Tienda now in new e-commerce sites I build. It is client and designer friendly and childsplay to install: http://dioscouri.com...t&view=category
The other one worth a look at is RedShop: http://redcomponent.com/redshop/
I have left Virtuemart in my past, I won't be going back.

What do you think about Hika shop software? It is also Joomla extention. I made few templates on the base of this software few month ago. I think it isn't bad. You can try it.

For me magento is great it enables you to create customized shopping carts as per the specific business needs and it's very feature rich so there's no problem if you need to expand.
