I bought a domain name for my band from easily.co.uk, my friend said that he would sort out the web hosting and has been taking care of the website for a year. We have had a disagreement and I want to take control of my domain name and build a new website hosted elsewhere but cannot find out how to do this. He refuses to give me any details for the current website control panel, the web site is currently hosted with one.com.

if you bought it then you already have control. All you need is a new host and once you have that and built the site you will be able to update the domain with whoever you registered it with.

Zed's got it.
If you rented the Domain Name you should be fine. You just need to find the login credentials for the place you got it from. For the record, you never really own a domain name, you just rent it.
