Hello friends,
Just wondering is flash media server the best alternative for streaming videos or are there any open source out there to use?

I know this is a few days old and you've been pointed to Wowza, but I'd still go for FMS as its more mature; WOWZA is one to watch though; its pretty darn good but FMS (particularly 4) is very powerful and I believe you can stream HTTP and to mobiles such as iPhone now.
The comparison on WOWZA is out of date (comparing to FMS 3.5; the give away there is "no 64 bit support on FMS"; well FMS4 does have 64 bit support as I use the 64 bit version).
But I guess it depends on what you want to do with it.
This could be useful:
http://www.adobe.com...server/compare/
http://www.wowzamedia.com/specs.html
That gives the feature lists which arent skewed as a selective comparison against another product.
