Hi folks
I have used a lot of shopping cart since getting interested in the web design industry. I am stuck with a choice, ZenCart was good when I was learning but Xcart seems to be my cart of choice. Its wealth of features, its easy to customise the layout and template. Lots of support from the community and the team themselves.
What do you guys think:)

I have chosen Magento, but purely based on the cosmetic side of things. As a Sales manager for a Payment Gateway I don't get too involved in the development of a cart based site so can only give my opinion on how a site looks and functions. From what I have seen from Magento they offer the most dynamic sites and most appealing.
We work with many ecommerce developers and the majority these days put Magento top of their list - and it seems the same here looking at the poll so far.
Thanks,

Hi Simon,
Yeah ive heard a lot of people talk about Magento, had a look at it but it looks like it needs a powerful server and that, also from a development side it needs XML files for templates. Will need to look into this however, X-Cart is payware and has a wealth of features and it uses smarty so its a lot easier to customise. If you have used X-Cart and MAgento a wee comparison would be of value, I dont think theres any features on Magento that Xcart doesnt have I might most probably am wrong but be good to know as Magento is Free lol

Most of my web designs are in Joomla so the natural choice for me is Virtuemart, works very well, had no problems so far...
Also have used OS Commerce some time ago, seemed a bit buggy, but have not used the latest offering yet.

E-commerce can be a bear. Especially if you want to incorporate it into your current site. I'm a Wordpress man myself, so when it comes to Wordpress e-commerce, it's either Cart66 or WP E-Commerce. Lately it's been Cart66 because when I build WP themes I don't have to build it specifically for a particular ecommerce plugin. Cart66 works with any Wordpress theme.
