I would like to get into the social media side of web development and would like to read up on it first. Is there any good books about the whole process or any good books about the individual platforms (Facebook, Twitter etc).

Cheers

If you haven't already go watch the film "The Social Network"

It will tell you all you need to know.

Sorry what I mean is the Social Media Marketing side. How to promote a clients business through social media. I enjoyed the Social Network Film. Did inspire me to be more creative.

I would recommend signing up for the SmartBrief on Social Media. My boss forwards these to me daily since I'm heading our social media marketing campaign. I don't know of any good books to suggest, but I've gotten a ton of insight into social media through this news brief. They email you daily with the latest articles about using social media to market businesses.

Ok I can't post links yet, we'll try it this way. If nothing else just Google "SmartBrief on Social Media"

Instead of books, read/subscribe to Mashable, one of the more popular social media websites. Books get outdated very quickly.
