Hi
Im trying to create a video classifieds, the website pretty much done appart from the video. Im new to web design and looking for some help with this. Im unsure of how to go about this, do i need a player embeded within my page for the videos to play on? these will be taken from the database using the CustomerID, and will play only that customers video. If i need a Player, could you tell me any good ones you may have experience with? also is there any that will convert all the videos to Flash( if this is the best format to use- pls advise )
Thanks for any help

I've done a bit of work on video encoding/delivery at scale and it's expensive and tortuous. Stuff like Zencoder is good for offloading the encoding part, else you'll need some serious server power for anything but a tiny site. Flash video players abound and I don't have a recommendation far as that goes but check into it and there'll no doubt be one that suits best. Also, if you haven't already, get a decent CDN or you'll be booted off your hosting platform or run out of bandwidth or drop off the web almost immediately

How will the videos be delivered, will it progressive or RTMP (Pure Streaming)?
You will also need to keep a close eye on bandwidth.
You will need to encode the videos to .FLV format for them to play in Flash or you could also encode them using .H264 as an MP4 but to server the video progressively you will need to tinker with the MP4 files.
There are numerous video players on the internet or you could create your own using Flash.
If you are serving the videos with RTMP then look in to using a CDN (Content Delivery Network) as mentioned above I would recommend Influxis - http://www.influxis.com
You could also look at using the HTML 5 Video tag and using a fall back system to cover various devices.
