Interesting isn't it:
Someone can rant about how 'Justin Beiber is a c**t' on Facebook and recieve 5 likes
Yet.
Someone on this forum can directly reply with a relevant answer to someones question, but they won't receive any reputation.
It's Crazy.
The reason is because it's measured.
If there wasn't a number next to our profiles, people would get the appreciation they deserved. Because if user A gives user B 1 reputation point, user A then has 1 less than user B & user B is winning.
Simple as that, but with hundreds of people.
Keep the total to your selves moderators imo, then award & appreciate people individually.

wow you edited a whole lot out of this text mate.
I agree with you, a pointing system is hierarchical which is without a doubt competitive, this is just elementary, hence I dont like it, if some one judges me or anyone else here over a number its a bit sad really, as words will speak much louder than any number.
Its a bit like "advanced, beginner, guru" etc, I just added advanced as I felt if I didnt I would get less work from the hiring forum, so in honesty, the rating system is a BIG "fail" really, and if this was a true community we wouldnt need such things as mutual respect is a lot more important than who is better than who!
The one thing I have noticed about this forum is this kind of class system you have put in place
Just my tuppence.

I decided to give it it's very own thread under forum suggestions!
Absolutely yeah, and it's always possible for someone to have a decent score + not know much. And just as possible for someone with a bad score to be brilliant.

Do you all know that there is also a user rating system on this board? If you think someone was of great help, you can always rate them based on a 5 star system. The points help users with letting the users know that someone appreciated the quality of their post, where as the star-user rating system tells what members think of the user as a whole. You can view the star rating system in the user page.
@Ben perhaps the star rating system should have a little more impression (i.e. make it bigger stars) as it seems to fade away in the user profile. And in regards to the +1 for Ban, all I can say is
and I'll know who +1's when the new IP.Board update comes out.
