I have been trying to get my head around what makes a nice logo. how to make a structure work. So i have decided to give myself small projects to design various logo's to improve my logo skills. Over the last while i have put together a few different ideas. None have been completely finished as they're not for clients etc. I'll upload here as and when i do them!
Cheers

That's actually quite nice. Don't like the colors on the makelove logo though.

u sound suprised...

yeah, the trouble with these logos is as they are not for actual companies, there are no actual company colours. Also, if i was designing them for a client there would be an awful lot more toing and froing to come up with the final logo. with these i simply say 'i'm bored, that'll do...'. if only clients were that easy to please!

I really like all of them, nice pieces of work, apart from the Fortune Spreads one; it feels to me like its a few levels lower in quality than the others.

But, as you say, they are all "practice" pieces, so good work, I wish I was capable of creating logos to the same standard :)

cheers guys,
obviously it would be alot different designing for a client as there names wont be as easy to design for haha
its easy to make up a name and design a logo around it. all you need is some imagination. i reccommend everyone to try it out. its a great exercise.

have a look here: http://designm.ag/in...creative-logos/
i bet more than half of them logos are fictional companies!

The one logo that really popped out at me is the Think One design. I think you aced that, I love the color scheme and text to image placement. I think your definitely onto something with the skillset you are developing.

We are always looking for fresh designers, and if you are looking to learn a lot in the process we could definitely help each other out. We design in team environments and within a 24 hour design marathon once a week (Wednesdays).

Collaboration is definitely key with the other team members to come up with a collective visionary of client projects. This process may help you out a lot in getting to know what really makes a great logo, and how to perfect your design skills. Let me know via PM or visit our site at www.designSPRINT.com!

Very decent logo. I'd play with tracking (letter-spacing) between individual characters in text.

yeah, good spot. am actually not mad about the font used on that part. the rest of the logo is very corporate and straight laced while that is a bit too funky lookin. plus like u said the defualt trackin on it is awful! will have to look at it again when i get a chance
Cheers

haha how did this thread great resurrected! thanks for the words bout the logo's. the majority of the above logo's were all just for exercise purposes so they were never developed properly. looking back some are executed well, some not so well but like i said if i was building them for a proper brand they would probably have changed considerably to fit with what the brand needed.

What makes a good logo?

Something that flows well with a good concept, recognisable features and a strong well chosen font.
