Sounds like a good idea and a good bit of fun. They should use stuff like this when teaching php.

I'm doing an essay at the moment but I'll check back later and vote!

I voted for Shaun's MI5Contact Form.

Rizo's didn't have 5 fields.

Shaun's on the other hand, had ReCaptcha images, two to choose from, which I found difficult to read (I know they are supposed to be difficult, but I had to try another twice because of one character that merged into another and I just could't guess it.) Another Captcha had a comma after the first set of letters and I wasn't sure if it was part of the Captcha or just a divider.

Then there was another process where you had to click "I'm a human" which brought up the long codes that you had to copy/paste. I think that step can be cut out, without reducing the security by much, but I accept that it is an extra layer of security.

I like to include a hidden field which a spambot will fill in (and get rejected) while a human will never see it and therefore have his entries accepted. I also like the security where you ask the human to enter, say, the first word at the beginning of the previous paragraph or what is two plus five, which is an alternative to a ReCaptcha.

Thanks for your vote :) Yh googles reCaptcha can be difficult at times to read (refresh) but it works and prevents spam the best it can do. I tried to keep the contact form as basic but secure as possible without confusing the customers/users much.

Overall, Glad you liked it.

In my first post, which I edited but is shown as it was in Shaun's post above, I said that Rizo's didn't have any security features, because I looked at the source code of the page on my screen instead of looking at the Notepad version. It does have security features which are less of a problem for the viewer, no ReCaptcha images but hidden security measures which work behind the scenes. These are just as good in many ways, so I think it's 50:50 between the two forms.

I was just double checking Steves code incase there was a mistake on upload, but no he does have security measures put in place on the current uploaded version.

Just to addon from the post above, I may provide options to choose which captcha/security method you wish to use on the MI5Contact form later on.

Ok so i thought i'd give a few insights on my contact form for 1 it does now contain 5 fields and a hidden bot trap, and 1 of the main reasons i did not include things like recaptcha cause it is hard to read and sometimes u could do 3 or 4 before u get it right sooo at that i've added alot of counter features that should prevent spammm quite alot i will list them below.

1.Spamword filtering
2.Known Robot blocking at top of page
3.Badword filtering
4.Known exploit blocking
5.Hidden bot trap
6.Character filtering for name fields ect..
7.Regex to check if website is valid

So thats quite abit and an alternative to any captcha considering the spamword list can be added on to however many words someone wants to block same for the badword blocker ect..Plus my form is only 2 files long which is a plus lol

I've changed my mind! Rizo Contact is more to my liking as I don't really like Captcha images. I have heard that spambots can decipher some of the images (upstrokes, downstrokes, rounded faetures, I suppose, and get a guess right sometimes but I'm not sure if that's correct) so I prefer lots of coded spam traps.

Yh theres no problem with that :) If i could change the vote to steves i would, Just to point out the captcha is more effective than the spam traps, reason being a spammer only has to take 1 look at your page workout the formfields set them in a program which ones to fill and which ones to not, then send.

Filtering different spam words will help prevent this as to these words are what would more then likely be used to fill in the form which Rizo covers all of this plus the user can always add more ect.. :)

Thank you for liking Rizo Contact, it does have alott of things to help prevent spam and keep the users of the script happy, and if not they always can add more badwords/spamwords/exploits to block inside the filter list :)

Ok so i've done an update to my contact form by adding a custom simple to read captcha that you may turn off and on by changing this value to on,
define("USE_CAPTCHA","off");//Set to off, not to use captcha
the default is set to off, anyways thats an added spam protection for my contact form updated file is attached to this reply.

I am using MI5 Contact form for a clients site and the client wants a small modification which I am having issues with.

When the email sends, they want the user to be redirected to another page (it has a google tracking code, and a special offer).

I have tried to amend the code but I get php errors ranging from headers already sent (tried adding ob_start() ) and unexpected $end.

The code that needs changing is

if(!$mail) {
 echo '<div id="errors">Oops, There has been a problem with our mailserver, please try again later.</div>';
} else {
 echo '<div id="good">Thank you for submitting your website for an SEO review, we will be in touch very soon with our findings!</div>';
}

The code I tried to change it too was:

if(!$mail) {
 echo '<div id="errors">Oops, There has been a problem with our mailserver, please try again later.</div>';
} else {
 header("Location:file.php");
 exit;
}

Anyone able to fix this (it would be a useful feature for the form IMO.

the unexpected end more then likly means ur missing a closing } as for the header already sent its cause ur sending output before u send the headers try removing all closing ?> php tags with in any included files this sometimes can cause these errors

the unexpected end more then likly means ur missing a closing } as for the header already sent its cause ur sending output before u send the headers try removing all closing ?> php tags with in any included files this sometimes can cause these errors

Finally got around to trying again and getting no where. The included files have no ending ?> cept for the end of the files.

my code is currently:

if(!$mail) {
 echo '<div id="errors">Oops, There has been a problem with our mailserver, please try again later.</div>';
}
else
{
 header("Location:index.html");
 exit;
}

Which starts on line 81 of run.php. This is the only code edit I have made and get the error about the headings already been set. The email sends but doesn't do the redirect afterwards.

Any ideas?

Check for whitespace or echo statements before line 81. Something is being output before you get to the header.

yes try removing the ?> at the end of the include files these are not required and also can trigger that error, also like said above any output before that can cause this error to

I like the second, I hate those codes to insert they are 95% not quite fast readable unlike the second one.
