Hi everyone,

I'm hoping some server guru can help me sort this problem out.

I'm running a dedi server with Linux, OS is CentOS, running typical LAMP Stack, and I've got Plesk 9.5.2 installed.

I have a domain on this server, and today is the second time it's just stopped working. The actual site is running X-Cart eCommerce software but I don't think this is relevant to the problem. Instead of the site showing up, the default Plesk page is shown (the page that is shown whenever you add a new domain). The files are still there, everything should be working, but it doesn't.

Strangely, I know how to fix this. I need to set the domain name as the default domain for the IP address. Then it works fine. It went offline today because for some reason it was no longer the default domain.

Can someone please explain why it isn't working in the first place? I can't afford for this domain to be unreliable, especially as it's one of my biggest client's main website.

Thanks,

Darren

This is very strange. As an outside chance I would try removing the domain in plesk and adding it again. Do you have a spare IP address you can add just for this domain? might be worth trying.

also, ask in the plesk forums.. they are normally quite helpful

Hi Dx3webs,

Thanks for the reply. It turns out there was a missing DNS entry causing the issue, it was relating the www prefix as a CNAME to the main domain (or something similar). Has been working fine ever since.

Ah, yes.. it is a pain to add www support if you don't click the box when you 1st setup the domain. Bit of a bug in plesk really.

Please check your server logs ........ if you are getting continuous logs then their might be some TCP/IP
connectivity issue at server side. OR IP downtime issue.
