Basically what I need is a field on a web page where the user can input an email address, and get an automated message to that address, and maybe allowing the user to add a custom message too. Does anyone know where I can find any tutorials, or even what it's called, I've looked up auto responder but it doesn't seem to be what I'm looking for.

Thanks

Hi , welcome to the forum :)
Looks like you're after a 'tell a friend' script.
I created a really simple one for my blog many moons ago (scroll down to the bottom of any posts on my site and click 'open my lovebox')
View the source and you can see what I've done.
Have a google for 'tell a friend script' but...
Be careful, don't let your server become a spam server.

An easy way to validate and sanitize an email field is using the 'filter vars' function available in PHP version 5.20 and later. I created a contact form using this available here. Download it and you should be able to extract what you need.
