If you've ever read my 'about me' here on WDF, you'll know that one of the reasons I started to teach myself web design (and soon development) was because in the future, I want to start my own online Japanese language teaching business (read my about me for more info). I've had the domain for a while now, and wanted to put something up there. So, I designed a little information page until, one day, I have something more functional to go up there.

I've kept it clean and simple, but would love some feedback on the fonts used, is it too bland, does the background image take ages to load, stuff like that.

The site is here: Japanalearn.

Thanks a lot sexies.

I really loved the page as a quick read, whitty and greatly written content! Kept me reading from start to finish.

My suggestions would be it's too simple, it wouldn't be hard to slap at least a small image or at least a large graphic Japanese word of some sort maybe?

Reading the last part again, I'm very impressed with the project actually, it did make me want to learn another language for the first time in my life!

Thanks for the positive words folks :) will look into getting some kind of graphic up soon.

I'm surprised at the positive reaction it's got, I'm glad to see people taking an interest, that means it's working! Is gonna take a long time to complete though; need to get some good knowledge of PHP, hire someone who speaks Japanese, etc.

Do you actually speak Japanese or just have an avid interest in the culture

I studied it for a few years quite avidly, but ended up getting not bored, but demotivated. It's such a life consuming thing to do, I just couldn't make the time for it. I do plan of studying it again one day though. Maybe through my own site once it's done? Haha.

Looking at the design, it definitely needs more - it doesn't even have a title. An image is also needed. Maybe a side box with a bullet point list of what you will be doing?

Indeed. It doesn't have a logo either, ha! Definately something I need to sort out at some point soon. I like the idea of a list on the side; for the tldr folks. Actually a little extra column on the right could do wonders.

Thanks :).

Also, if anyone else tells me I'm a good writer I think I'll screw web design and just start blogging! Thanks for the kind words folks.
