1. whats the budget
2. why the rush?

We can definatally pop in a CMS or Blog that ascts as if it is a CMS in this timescale, but expidited = £££

the devil is in the detail - how much work, what functionality, what templating is needed etc. etc..

I'm assuming you want the website to maintain the same user interface, but to have a CMS behind the scenes?

Hi there thomas_hurt,

Can you answer this question please? Why have you started 3 looking to hire posts and then just never replied to any of the questions in there? If you have found someone to take on your project, please post that in the thread so people know that it is closed.

If you are genuinely looking to hire people, then REPLY TO THEIR QUESTIONS! You will get a much better functional spec and proper quote if you actually interact with people :)

agree - if you want a job done fast, it a bit of a micky take if you then dont bother to reply to the people offering to work over a weekend

call me cynical but looking at the other posts it seems that they are trying to find out what price to pitch themselves at.

Actually, we see the budget as an indiction of how realistic the customer is

Some budgets are a bit like "i want a new BMW, I want the extras pack, but I actually only want to pay clapped out moped pricing"

Secondly it gives an idea of the scale of the job:

e.g. I want a n online store could mean

1. I have 3 products to sell, and a google checkout button is fine
2. I have a company the size of DSG, and we are opening a new camera division, and it will hold 10,000 products, and get 100000 hits a day

__

Anything that injects some realism into the cost of a job has to be a good thing, that comes from both sides - quoting and asking

Sorry guys, posted this on Friday and didn't check it over the weekend.

iksol got it in one, it's a pretty straight forward project.

A guy who pm'd me a quote and how he planned to do it won the job.

Guess it's up to him if he wants to say who he is.

Cheers,

T

Tell me.. how on earth can some one PM a realistic quote for:

"i want a CMS to be added to a HTML site, to be done over the weekend"

... that could mean (in rough order of how much work):

Wordpress
Joomla
Drupal
(another CMS)
Totally bespoke

That could mean anything from 10 man hours of work, to 1000 man hours of work

in context: We wouldnt expect a builder to quote me for an extension - it could mean:
- I want a carport
- I want a garage
- I want a 2 story 4 room extension - I will do the fit and finish
- I want a 2 story 4 room extension - you do the fit and finish, we expect the highest standards possible

I wanted to set the brief totally open to see what my possible options / prices were. I think the 'over the weekend' canceled out 1,000 man hours.

I do understand your point tho, I'm new here so in the future I'll be more descriptive.
