Just noticed that this forum doesnt have somewhere to through up a sneak peak of your latest work. I have seen it on many other forums and find it dead handy to show off your latest work, even if its only something small. it gives people the chance to get some criticism or praise on there latest work! We should use this especially cos this forum has the 'attach a file' option which is dead handy!

here is a quick iphone compettion page i did up. (only took me bout an hour)

Lets see what your doing!

Not started yet because I'm busy with college work but I mocked this up a bit ago. Just a redesign for an image hosting script I made a while back.

I like it...one thing I spotted (not sure if its just due to you saving out of PS?) but on the left, next to the iPhone..the white border seems to go out of line...

But I like the design very much, nice!

lovely stuff all round. the attention to detail on all the edging and shadows etc, is awesome.
I will be investigating further :D

this just went semi-Live. for a friend I went to college with:
laurakilty.ie

Its the first time integrating Wordpress into a site, so im happy I got over the inital hump of CMS's. I was kinda scared of them because im crap at php (something i have to change) but this was pretty harmless so far.
anyway, I still have to get some more style into all sections, so let me know if anything pops into your head.
thanks.

One of my latest creations is

www.jmar.co.uk

No changes will be made now but your opinion on my work would be good :D If possible I would also like you to give an estimate of what you think you would charge to make the same/similar? Ballpark figures obviously.

Agreed. My attention to detail could use some improvement :(

Huw, I like your pencil, brush and ruler set :)

Here's my current attempt. I think it's pretty bland at the moment, and I'm not happy with the logo, its arrangement seems to overwhelm the page.. Needs a bit of excitement on the left hand side, too.

Circles,

How about having either a static image below your buttons the width of the 2 columns or a slider (in the same place)?

It's a nice idea, and I would agree with you, but unfortunately I can only work with the content supplied, which doesn't include any images :(

I'd love to add some sort of graphic on the left hand side, like I said, but I'm afraid of going overboard with the pink :\

I would agree on the 'Pink' point. I think there is a little to much of it but also I think there is too much text which make the 'Pink' factor stand out more than it normally would.

How about on the left hand side below the video, stopping the text at 'services.' rather than 'services via etc etc'. I would imagine all this information is listed on the services page anyway plus id guess the video makes reference to the services as well.

With regards the right hand side how about making the text more concise?

Will definitely have a think about shortening the blurb, thanks for the advice on that :)

I might also consider another colour for the highlighted text, if I can find one that compliments...hmm..

lookin good stjohn. i'd maybe move the 2 panels on the right together and maybe square them off to align them with the image. It needs some edge so maybe intoduce some shading to selected areas. take each panel, peice by peice and try co ordinate each with similar shading to ensure there is a consistancy. you have a nice structure, nows the time to start building it up!

Stjohn,

I think its a good start but could be developed (as i am sure you are aware) much further. One point I would say is the middle section of the page "sound set" is giving the immediate impression it is off-center due to the colour differences. What I would suggest is put music at the bottom of the center section.

O no no. I thought you had a column on music but I see now its recent posts and archive. What about rather than having them down the side, have them along the bottom?

very nice mate! its slick and all very clean. my only thing to say maybe would have been perhaps to colour the headings to introduce some colour? its quite colourless bar the images. also maybe put a link to index on the logo. its usually something people click on when tryin to find the homepage. well done son!

Yeah I see your point about the lack of colour Al, but that was actually very deliberate in an attempt to make the products the core, number one focus of the site. My fave part id the products carousel - so nice and i'm really very proud of it :)
