Hello all. Second day to the forum, first post.

I need to know if I must purchase a pc (I'm currently on a Mac) to check website compatibility when designing.

Will running Windows through Parallels or Boot Camp on my Mac (or another similar bridging software) produce the same results when checking website compatibility with different browsers as it would if I checked compatibility directly on PC running Windows?

Thanks in advance for any advice or info. Glad to be part of the community.

Yes it will, running bootcamp or parallels is the same as running windows on a non-mac. For quick testing I was using browserlabs by adobe when it was in beta. And am now using browsershots.

I'm a Mac user and use:

- VMWare Fusion
- Windows 7 with default IE 8 install
- IETester

Using IETester in the VMWare virtual environment does indeed replicate the display of a PC running the relevant version of IE.

I too use a Mac! I use Parallels with IE tester (You may/may not be aware that Windows does not allow you to install more than one version of IE) and Adobe browser labs (which doesn't allow you to test interactive functions). I don't fully trust either so have access to a PC as well.

+1 for the IETester link :)
