Very nice... can't wait to rip it apart :p

One question - what is the purpose of the png folder? Is it just non-lossy versions of the images ... or is there some clever css type use for them.

(as you can probably tell, I have no idea what I am talking about ... yet..)

Thanks for upping anyhow, looks great!

Yes that's fine aslong as you leave credits in the footer :)

The PNG folder is only to hold all the editable files, it's not used in the working website. :)

Great stuff! Thank you very much.

I've tested the link and it works fine, as it's an attachment I am confident that the file has always been available to download.

file>open>find file>open

or set up a site via the manage sites option and that way it will be in your sites list.

this may sound stupid, however im a newbie so please be patient.

I downloaded the zip file of this today and im aware that most designers create the site in photoshop and then slice it up and export it to the website page.

A Few questions.

1. How do they export it and get it onto their website?
2. Iv changed all the colours to my colour scheme and now its ready to slice, what bits do I slice and what do I then do with the slices??
3. Do I have to slice it all and export it all?
4. Where do I export it and then what do I do with it ?

Regards
Jake

Or just right-click on the file and select "Edit with Dreamweaver CS3".

Hi Ben! Amazingly nice web design you got there

I was wondering, kinda', if you could make a video tutorial (screen recording) on how to slice the PSD up and create the HTML for it, and then the CSS  ? And add the PSD file in the .zip folder so that we can do exactly the same as you do in the video :pardon:

Kind of like how the people on nettuts do it (Slice and Dice that PSD), but on how _you_ do it. Like, so that the rest of us Ben wannabe's can follow your steps.

It would be <em>awesome</em> if you could do that.

Once again, you're amazing!
I'm just goofing around in this forum, hoping one day to become a great web designer. :friends:

Hi Frillo,

Thanks for the kind words.

There are hundreds of video tutorials out there on the internet including youtube.

Try the link below and you'll find lots of step-by-step video guides on making a website.

Spoiler

Ben, when you make a page like this, what programs do you use?
For the layout/design, you use Photoshop, no doubt.
But for the HTML/CSS, you use ... ? Notepad/Notepad++/Dreamweaver/Visual Studio (?)

And how long time did you use making this page? Like, how long time do you use generally on making a web page?...

In fact I use Fireworks, not Photoshop. For the coding I use Dreamweaver as it comes with the Adobe bundle.

Template designs vary, I think this design took just over an 1 hour. Then to code about the same sort of time. Then a little bit longer to check it all through etc.

:)
