Can anyone recommend a good tutorial on form validation or an easy form validator to use?

Forms seem to baffle me!

I doubt that it is easy (if it is possible on the whole) to find an "exhaustive" tutorial - so wide this theme is. Maybe it would be better to narrow domain of search and concretize what form fields (and how) do you want to validate?
