Hi all,

I have recently been up to my ears in SEO copywriting work. One of the reasons I have stalled so heavily on my daily work load, is because I have to edit, re-edit, re-re-edit and then edit my re-edited material.

I am a creative copywriter at heart; I really enjoy writing in a conversational manner, almost so that I am asking questions and the reader feels they need to respond. This has caused me absolute havoc over the last few weeks, as I am writing my copy, then filling in the blanks with keywords that the old heads of my company choose out.

I believe that any writer would prefer getting a list of keywords put infront of them before they write any form of copy. But now that one of my clients is demanding keywords in their company blog and news section (which are literally the same areas of their website - I wish that some brands would realise that they are two very seperate areas of interest).

Does anyone have any usefull tips or guidance they could give me to write compelling copy whilst using keywords?

Regards (accidently missed the G and hit a T earlier when I wrote an email, won't be making that mistake again).

There's no harm in including "keywords" (and don't forget "carewords" as well!) in news/blog items, surely if you write well these would naturally fall into the copy anyway?

I prefer not to have a list of keywords put in front of me!
Seeing as a copywriter has to get into the head of the target audience and understand what will attract, engage and then convert them... part of that is figuring out what they're searching for so you know what intention they're landing with.

Too many times people have a fixed idea about keywords and fail to link that into what the actual copy is doing.

If you've decided what the right search terms are that match the purpose of the piece you're writing then, like BlueDreamer says, they'll fall naturally into place and all that's needed is a little tweak when copy-editing.

Guess I'm saying tell them you'll pick the right words to use seeing as that's what copywriters are employed for!

Good SEO Consultants will tell you that keyword density doesn't matter nearly as much as conversion! If you have a good article that is generating sales, who cares about a measly backlink!

However, if you must, in a 500 word article put your keyword in 3 times -- first, middle, last. Bold, underline, italic. Lame but it works.

I have a friend who spends hours on perfecting articles that no one reads nut google. Tales a while to make the leap.
