I have gone ahead and created pretty much my full site thinking that I could add something like Zen Cart at the end.

Zen Cart seems to be more of a full site solution that you can skin/configure than something you can bolt on to an existing site.

Any ideas how I can easily get a cart/checkout built onto my existing layout?

Cheers

I think your best solutions would be something like a wordpress add on.

do you have a database with the products, do you have an idea of a payment process.

Try http://www.phpcart.net/ - it's really a checkout system, you can build your product pages and links to the cart using custom URL's

Open Cart is CSS based so you should be able to customise it

Not yet, but there are only about 10 products max, so shouldnt be a problem.

For payment, credit card and I'd like to keep them on my site if possible but if they have to jump to a PayPal page to fill in their details its not the end of the world.

Thanks for replying.

I should have mentioned I'm looking for a free/open source solution.

I had assumed it would be easy to bolt on ecommerce functionality with Zen Cart or osCommerce or whatever. I think I will need to do some more research here.

One possibility is to create a 'store' area in a subdirectory. Is it possible to install say Zen or Open Cart like this?

Ta for replys

To be honest, if you only have about ten products then paypal would be ok as for the shopping cart that could be custom built like on one of my sites, (contains adult material) www.sensuallady.co.uk

Nice site!! Trying to think about web development but now I cant stop thinking about black stockings...

How hard was it to make the custom cart? Something like that would be perfect actually.

Not to difficult really, I have all the files, so long as your host has php and mysql, I could send you the files and help you set it up

Have you seen ecwid? It is made by the x-cart developers. I was considering it for a new project but found it slowed down the loading of my pages. I think if I reworked where the cart came in, like let the whole page load first then have the cart load it would be better but it seemed too much trouble so I've gone for mals ecommerce, another one you might want to try.
