I was just wondering if it would be possible to see an example of a completed contract? I'm struggling a bit to fill all the headings.

I just have one question:

what sort of info would you put in the Technical Info section?

Thanks

Hello this has really helped me! :D

But one question, I am going to get the client to approve the contract via email message. Do I still need all the signing stuff at the end if I'm doing this? I'm a bit confused by the whole last page really, could you explain?

Many thanks,
Charlie :)

It's best to get a signature on pronted paper, but if you want to send out a PDF contract via email and get this accepted by email, then simply state this when you send the contract out. Say that the client has to reply and formally accept the contract via email and that their response/acceptance will be printed out and attached to a copy of the invoice as proof.

I did have a client who figures out that you can digitally sign a PDF - so it can be done like that and emailed back to you, but I prefer the first option where they spell their acceptance out so that you can print it out - make sure that when you print it out, you include the email headers that show the date and time it was sent and from whom.

Thats great, so I don't really need that last page if I'm doing that then?
Also what does TCD(s) mean?

Thanks! :D

Many thanks for the wonderful donation of your freelance contract. It is inspiring and helpful. I think you make a solid point on making sure to have page numbers in "x of x" format so they cannot say they did not receive page 'x'.

Best of luck on your endeavors.

I have had a load of requests over the past year, via PM, to supply my freelance contract...so instead of sending stuff out individually via PM, I've decided to set up a template with explanatory text for anyone to download and adapt to their own circumstances.

This is a contract that I came up with several years ago, with the help of a lawyer [personal friend]. I didn't want anything too technical or full of legal speak. Just wanted something simple, straightforward, that made sense and didn't confuse or intimidate in any way. So there are no major legal terms in the document at all...it simply does what it's meant to - lay out the information that client has supplied [the brief], say what you're going to do for them and how much your going to charge and what deadlines there are...

-----Edit 2011-----

These templates are now available as part of my latest e-book called "Freelance Contracts" - you get 12 pages of information, advice and instructions on how to use freelance contracts as well the contract template in .odt, .doc and .pdf format.

You can also get just the templates without the e-book.

Hey, I'm new to this so it might be super simple.. but where do I download it from?? I can't seem to find a link.

Thanks!

ayoungh is there a problem with that? I've had so many emails from people asking for links etc that I thought I'd post a classifieds ad on this forum and point people in that direction - only trying to be as helpful as possible as I'm not workng fulltime at the moment and so can't always answer my emails straight away and I'd rather people could find the links asap on this site or mine.
