Hi, my website relies totally on the use of API's but every free host I've used so far restricts free users from any outbound connections so I can't even use reCaptcha. I will most likely use a paid host soon but I really need a free host to test my site with.
Thanks for your help,
Jim

I've never used reCaptcha, but from a quick glance at their Docs it looks like the only outbound connections are over port 80, which the host would not restrict. Are you sure its not that your host doesn't allow PHP? Do you know if your script configuration works on a normal paid host?

Paid hosting doesnt have to be expensive, for a few quid a month you can test and setup properly instead of wasting countless man hours of labour trying to get something working to save a few quid.
For every hour you spend testing on servers that dont work, that 6 months paid for hosting down the drain.

Fairly sure it's not my script as while searching the web others have posted that after after asking their host to open socket connections reCaptcha worked. The error I get is "Could not open socket"
*sigh* I suppose I'll have to use a paid hosting service. It's just that at 15 it's quite tedious to use paid online services. Just out of interest could you reccommend a decent, cheap paid host? At the moment I'm thinking of awardspace.

lol, you will get what you pay for. "Decent" and "cheap" shouldnt be looked at in the same place when shopping for services, unlike products where an ipod is an ipod, no matter where you buy it, services can vary incredibly.
Some host's will sell you an eentire servers worth of resources for $1, then have 20 pages of terms and conditions on all the things you cant do with it, whereas the better ones might charge a reasonable fee for a starter plan, but be so much better, more reliable, and in your case, work properly without getting in your way.
At 15, you should still be able to buy web hosting, as long as you have your own debit card???
I'll not spam you with recommendations but I'm sure you have seen all of our signatures here where you can check us all out and choose one or ask any of us more info if need be

Thanks, obviously your biased towards Wesh ;P but I understand what you're saying. I do have a debit card but it can't be used with paypal and my stupid bank won't give a me a debit card until I'm 16 even thought they gave a friend of mine one at 14. :@
