According to the tool the search term : Laptop chargers is generating 40,500 monthly searches.
However my website is currently 6/7 on the 1st page on google for the search term yet i only
generated 91 visits to my site in the same month.
40,500 monthly searches / 91 visits to my site, it seems something is not right.
Anyone got any ideas ?

With the broad match you'll get everything relating to 'laptops' and 'chargers' separately.
Change the filter over on the right to exact, and you have 9,900/mth, or 330/day searches for your term. You'll see a significant rise in traffic if you can break the top three.
Whats the site url?

Maximum CPC:
Daily budget:
Keywords Search Volume Estimated Avg. CPC Estimated Ad Positions Estimated Clicks/Day Estimated Cost/Day
[laptop chargers]
£0.91 - £1.16 1 - 3 1 £1 - £2
If the keyword is generating 9,900 searches per month why would i only receive 1 click per day with this budget ?
Oh and site address is Whichlaptop.co.uk. Take no notice of the site in its current format as we are launching our new site next week, hence all my questions for adwords !!
Thanks

9,900 Searches/Month - 80% = 1980 (1980 / 30 = 66)
That's 66 visitors per day for around 11 sponsored listings.
Also, it's not just about budget, it's about the ad itself. Does it entice visitors to click. Obviously not I would say from your results.
Very low volume of traffic. You need to build up your keyword list (including long tail keywords), then create an ad specific to each keyword, then run and test.
Think about creating banner advertisements for the content network. It's lower cost per click and much more potential for higher traffic if done correctly.
For the SERPS, most people don't go past the first 2 pages and very few go past the first 3 results on the first page.

Have you optimised the text for the ad? This could be a critical factor in click through rate. It also depends if you are at the top or if you are way down the side on advertising. If you are at the top, you will pay more for your ad, and if Google thinks your landing page is relevant (e.g. a page which is heavily optimised for 'laptop chargers') and users will find it helpful from their search term you will find yourself receiving more clicks.
Have you considered targeting branded laptop chargers?
Dell laptop chargers
Toshiba laptop chargers
Mac Laptop Chargers etc.
More likely to get a clickthrough when someone is looking for something specific and in the frame of mind to buy something. Your text with your ad should reflect this.

We haven't actually ran any ads yet, just getting the information from google about what clicks we can expect from the ads. I looked into the branded laptop chargers but the information i was getting was 0 clicks no matter what CPC i entered. I'm now aware that this is probably down to lower search volume and the fact that 80% of searches don't click on the sponsored ads.

That's an excellent point and one I've seen first hand on a small electronics website I'm working on.
Another one I found was there is a huge amount of traffic for people searching for specific models - in my case, specific models of TV E.g. Samsung LE32C530
For electric stuff another common trend seems to be people searching in the following format: "Buy [product/model number] online"
