Hi all

My company has three distinct websites/areas of business: Medical, cosmetic and supplies.

In the last campaign we did, we spent a fortune PPC'ing each site. Recently though, I had a thought:

Our "master site" has a "click here to enter" page at the front end. I have now made that into a portal for all three sites.
If I just PPC that page (the master page) am I being clever, or naive?

Presumably your ppc, links to a call to action page (or tailored landing page) rather than the home pages.

You have positioned yourself on keywords, hopefully, for terms that people will find your presence useful.

With this in mind, being useful to the customer, you should take them to a page which directly is interesting and relevant to what they were looking for.

For example...

user types in "waterproof mascara" ....

- >they click on you, they are looking for a page with information about or selling waterproof mascara. They probably do not want to land on a homepage and click through, and then have to find where the waterproof mascara is through your navigation.

Make it easy for your customers!!!

PPC'ing each sites home page is probably of little use to consumers. PPC'ing pages that consumers can buy directly what they were searching for are the most useful!!

Great advice - thanks.

I'm also conscious that (especially in my industry) it's good to let people know that you have a comprehensive suite of services. Of the three sites we have, not all of them mix well. The medical site needs a totally different look and feel to that of the cosmetic site - just for reasons of professionalism.

I just hope I'm not falling into the trap of assuming that everyone browses the same way I do.

You should also being a specific landing page for each service, as that has proven to increase clickthroughs compared to just linking the ad to the main domain.

E.g. www.domain.com/my-service instead of www.domain.com
