Hi
I have a website that I want to revamp! I want to replace old pages with new pages containing different keywords, content and descriptions, but I dont want to damage the google ranking of one of the pages on my ste (not one Im replacing)!! Will the replacment of some of the pages have any effect on the page that has a good rank in google?? - the one Im leaving alone!!

Im worried I will lose my position in google!

Thanks Char but Im ok with that...

Sorry I didnt mean rank, I meant position - thought thay was the same! Im not changing the titles, just the keywords, content and descriptions etc...The page I am leaving alone has a good position and Im not sure if this will be effected by changing the other pages!!

Changing the meta description of a page will only alter what people see under the title in the search results. Changing the meta title may have a good or bad effect depending on what keywords you choose. (see my link below for a full description on keywords)

If however you change the path to the pages ie the url then you should set up a 301 permanent redirect from the old to the new to keep the Google page rank of the old page.

Google SERP shows page position not the domain so if your meta tags and contents are properly optimized you will get better position for that page.
