I believe that although on page SEO has a part to play in search engine rankings it is not the be all and end all of getting a high level of traffic and in fact good content and backlinks are far more important. Visit my blog for more information.

Perhaps the article is not named appropriately, but I feel makes a valid point. And may be I have named it so, as the most talked about SEO issues are not of the content but of META tags, titles and such.

SEO is so many different things its difficult to define it fully, i don't think anyone can focus on just one area of seo, it is many areas. I think a good balance of everything is best - it always makes me chuckle when the "link-builders" start off on their hobby horses....

I am with you tho'- if i had to choose just one seo method then it would always be content. Until Search engines stop indexing words there's really no option!!

I've always thought of "SEO" is the art of preparing your site for indexing by search engines.

Everything else goes under the "SEM" - search engine marketing - ie everything you do outside of your site

Well it can be called whatever you like, I don't really do names as my children will confirm!!! SEO/SEM end result is to get the website to appear in search engine results, because if it doesn't its a bit of a waste of money and time.

Hi,
on-page SEO research some keyword and decide which keywords the site should compete for.
off-page SEO is more difficult than on-page SEO,because the site has more control over its own pages.
