Hi,

I run a small specialist design service (not webdesign) and have a website. I would like to work on my SEO. The website is SEO friendly in terms of its design, and has good content that is updated. I am trying to get my site linked from other sites and have been adding it to google on a weekly basis. My wife has a lot of spare time in the day and I am wondering what she could do on promotion my site on Google.

Is it worth her constantly adding my main web address to google (submitt url) on a daily basis?
The more you keep submitting it the better?

I am getting about 80 hits a day. Not sure if this good or bad – suppose its better than 0.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

You submit your URL to Google everyday? You should only submit your website once (most times you don't even need to do this!). I’d recommend you don't submit your site anymore.

If you say you already have good content and its optimised for the keywords you want, then you need to start working on link building and other off page optimisation tactics.

In my opinion you can start with the following:

- Directory Submissions
- Blog Commenting
- Forum Posting

You need to get relevant links to your website. Tip: instead of the link being "Company Name" change it to be a keyword instead.

If you post your link, ill be happy to have a quick look over your website.

be careful as submitting your site to google everyday could get it seen as spamming, and as such your site might get black listed. If you are updating your site regular the little google spiders will come back by themselves.

Remember with link building it is all about relevance and quality over quantity. 1 relevant popular site with your link on it is better than 100 non relevant links Plus you need to remember that a lot of forums (like this one) and blogs add nofollows to links which means that the links don't get counted...although they can be good for getting a bit of traffic to your site.

I didnt realise by adding my website on a regular basis was considered spamming - thanks for telling me this!! My web host offer a service to submit my site every month to 100 search engines for a small fee - this gave me that impression.

Coolblue, I have just registered for the webstats tool from my hosts, and just figuring out how to do that.

Regarding keywords do I pick a handfull of keywords or phrases that are relevant (and maybe not as competative) for my service and place them in my content without spamming or going over the top? I think I need to re wite some of the content to reflect this in my site!

Thanks again as this is valubale to me

If you post on a forum/blog with the sole intention of promoting your link, then that would be spamming. On the other hand, if you're an active forum member, posting meaningful or useful posts and have your link in your signature then that's just advertising and "normal".

Be wary of anyone that offers to "submit to xxx search engines", you don't need to do this nowadays as the SE's will find your site so long as you're linked from somewhere at least once. Also there aren't 100's of search engines so in essence that's marketing speil (lies?). http://en.wikipedia...._search_engines has a pretty comprehensive list of search engines, most won't be applicable to the average site.
