Pages have Pagerank, not sites :)

As soon as Google indexes and analyses a page it assigns a ranking number, and over time that number may change.

The more links u have coming to your site from other websites help aswell. Google will think your page is important if lots of other sites are linking to it. It will therefore increase it's page rank. The more reliavent. The linking site is to your own site the more important google will take it.

I've just registered on a few web design and local business directories for no fee, the listings have a link to my website only just got it up and running but my home page now has a page rank value which it didn't have before.

There are many techniques to increase page rank, but you obvious want to submit your site to galleries, directories and other social sites. That's why I'll recommend you something: read this short article - http://website-promo...ges_income.html - I think she can help you.

Greetings

There are lot of ways to get backlinks, you can do social book marking, social networking sites, directory sub, article sub, blog creation, comment posting and so on.

This may help someone. A review copy of "the linkbuilders bible 2010" landed in my inbox on Friday last week. I was going to flick through it, but read it cover-to-cover in detail for two hours.

If you are wondering how to build links, it is absolute gold dust.

Don't obsess about page rank though. It, in itself, does not generate traffic. Good for bragging rights and that's about it.

Try linking to Best of the Web, Dmoz, Yahoo directory for paid links and then look for directories in your field

Just remember, Page Rank Is Not Everything - concentrate on creating quality content first.
