Hi all,
I have been asked to make some language amendments to a client's website, http://www.swing-sli...ay.com/home.php which uses x-cart and I aren't that familiar with it yet. For example, if you click the French flag at the top the majority of the labels have been changed. I have been asked to just change the labels for the Spanish, Swedish and Italian. However when I am in the admin panel and I go to languages, choose the language, click label from the drop down and type in home for example to find the label for the home button, it returns nothing, it can't find it. If I use Webmaster mode, and select the language, the majority of the labels I can change but others I can't including the navigation yet it has been changed within the French language? Does anybody know what the problem would be as the labels I can and can't change are the same within Spanish, Italian and Swedish.

I have also noticed other than clicking different languages that are still setup in English i.e Ireland for example, on the left hand side there is a Help menu, with 5 links. Choosing another language that has been changed fully or partly from English to its respective language only one or two links show rather than the five, why is this?

And finally, like labels switching to their respective languages based on clicking the flag, can you do the same for images?

Thanks

Damian

It's been a long time since I did anything with X-cart but have your tried typing in the actual Spanish etc word that you want to find?

Alternatively look at the English version and take a note of the language snippets "label" (normally reads something like 'txt_home_message'), then selecting your language and searching for that string, or part of.

For your images you could probably do that but it's need one helluva hack :)

Cheers will do that,

Can you explain, if you search for the featured products label for example in French and it finds that label, with the French words, how come it doesn't convert it when choosing French on the website, Featured Products stays as English?

Frustrating isn't it - one reason I gave up on X-cart long ago ;)

With your featured products example it's possible there are two or more French language entries for that label variation, one of which may not have been translated. Otherwise there probably isn't a translation, in which case you'll have to add one.

Very frustrating. I have noticed that documentation and other helpful forums, other than x-cart's own is virtually non-existent,quite shocked with that considering the amount of other resources for other things. Ok cheers for your help I will see if their are more variations.

From memory I think there's an option in Languages so you can download the language as a text file, might be easier to do that?
