I've recently started writing a blog for my company and wanted to gain some feedback on the quality of the copy and content (not the visual aspects of the blog itself).

I'm currently rolling out a new article once a week with the aim being to provide useful information to my clients and to people who may not be too sure about what's involved with getting a website live and onto the web so the articles are not too technical.

I'd be very grateful if you guys would mind taking a look at one or two of my articles and commenting on them and don't worry, if you don't like something about them please feel free to tell me exactly what you think (just nothing too personal please - lol). I've tried not to make them sound like an advertisement for my company, but rather have them act as a useful source of information for anyone.

You can find the blog here: My Company Blog

Thank you in advance.

Had a quick look and skimmed through a couple and they look good. They read well and I agree should be aimed at non-techies. My only peeve is the number of typos. . .

Hi Ian,

Generally I think it's a pretty decent blog - a few pointers below from a copywriter's perspective:

- Decide who you're talking to, who the audience is. Your current top post speaks to clients for the first part, then switches to speaking to designers.

- Less can sometimes be more. To highlight that top post again, you spend a long time reiterating your original point (that clients shouldn't be afraid to ask questions of their designers). You say it in perhaps six or seven sentences when one or two might suffice. I understand people like to pack plenty of content in for SEO, but ultimately it can make life harder for the reader.

- For the same reason, I'd break up some of your paragraphs. Big blocks of text on the screen aren't very appealing for readers, so a couple of return spaces here and there can help.

- Final point, probably most important, try to choose a tone of voice and stick with it. For the most part you're speaking pretty informally, in the first person, but on occasion (again ref your top post) we see a post kicked off with things like "In today’s modern world there are more ways to communicate with people than ever before". A bit formal, and definitely at odds with the rest of the blog.

Hope this helps in some small way. Good luck with the blog.

Nice site.

Off topic, you're office/house is about 5 mins away from where I live :)

Off topic 2 (sorry): how come you went with the url structure

http://www.yellowcir...y/domain-names/

Surely, http://www.yellowcir...y/domain-names/ would be better - I'm a bit anal about seo urls like this :)
