Which Shopping Cart? Rate Topic: -----

Hi There,

i am currently looking for a shopping cart for an eCommerce project, ideally i need require the following

  • Open Source or Low Cost
  • Easy to modify (ie CSS/XHTML templates)
  • A Range of Payment Gateways


Any ideas?

You are asking all the wrong questions

What does the client need the store to do.. Exactly

for starters - do they need bundled products, differential discounts, wierd shipping rules and calculations etc..

there are many other questions you need to ask, but they will narrow down the choice a lot

Well said Richard.

We could recommend a whole array of different carts (I think there is a thread with a list) but none of them may be suitable for your client as they may want something that is linked to their instore epos systems, or they may need to have special options, uploads etc etc etc. I'm sure you get the idea.

You need to have a good understanding of the clients business and their needs before you can decide which cart to use.

i havent got a client yet, so i'm looking for something to help me get started so if/when i do have a client i can put something together.

i'm looking to test with up to 100 products, payment gateway, discount codes.

You're best off trying a few different systems then.

Cubecart, osCommerce, Prestashop, ZenCart etc. download and install them and just have a play around.
